SW96 SORCERESS yacht is the first unit in the new mini-series of high-performance cruisers launched by Southern Wind in May 2017. She was commissioned by a yachtsman looking for a performance superyacht to use in both coastal and transoceanic races and for bluewater cruises. Exterior design incorporates features typical of top performance yachts such as a wide transom, a lifting keel, twin rudder and ample sail area. Combining the best features of both a flush deck and deck saloon configuration, the design of this raised saloon yacht blends a sleek deckhouse and uncluttered sight lines with higher ceilings and ample light, which floods into the interior through 270° panoramic windows. Sorceress yacht has a carbon fibre prepreg and nomex deck for excellent sailing performance in any weather conditions. The deck hardware is optimized for both shorthand performance cruising and offshore racing: a fixed bowsprit with an integrated anchor arm and fitting for gennaker tack line and furling code 0 allows for flexibility and practical anchoring and sailing manoeuvers. The mainsail sheet system with Cariboni Magic Trim leaves the deck clean for easy movement on board. he interior layout features a large saloon above the engine room which is accessible through a full height control room. The owner’s cabin forward with en-suite private desk and “office area” and three guests cabins amidships offer privacy for all on board. Crew quarters aft feature two en suite crew cabins, a spacious galley that opens onto the crew mess and a nav station. Nauta Design’s Italian touch is the secret behind SW96 Sorceress yacht classic yet modern style.
